The Animal Cell

Animal or plant cells are sheltered by means of a membrane known as the cell membrane. On the other hand a plant cells also contains a cell wall as well (Packer & Douce, 1987: 36). A membrane structures that a cell possess is known as a cell organelles. The basic purpose of cell organelles is the performance of specific and distinct activities in order to aid the collective functioning of all the cells structure. The cell organelles aid the survival of organism body. (Alfred, 2009, 199).

All of these cell functions are performed by different cell organelles. The function of cell is performed collectively and they perform the activities of the cell as a unit. (Alfred, 2009, 199).

Animal Cell

In animal cell following can be seen with light microscope

Nucleus Nucleus is the most important unit of a cell that is why it is known as the heart of the cell. This nucleus of cell has DNA in it which is the generic material of the organism (Loyola-Vargas & Va´zquez-Flota, 2006: 29). The DNA replicates and synthesis of RNA is performed in the cell's nucleus. It activities and regulates the further cell organelles consequently a very significant cell organelle. Nucleus also has a membrane known as the nuclear membrane which separates the cytoplasm and nucleus (Chase, 2008, 123).

Mitochondria

Mitochondria are known for the energy generation of a cell. These are also known as the “Strength House” for the cell. It is organelle which is protected under double membrane. The energy produced in Mitochondria is in the form of ATP. Mitochondrial genetic material or DNA is present in a circular shape in the cell. The power is produced from glucose which is transmitted through food in the body. This glucose is converted into power through cellular respiration (Moner & Head, 1987: 52).

Vacuole

This is a large unfilled storage organelle. Excess food and water is stored in vacuole. There are many vacuoles within the cell which floats in cytoplasm region.

The Plant Cell

Plant cells are sheltered by means of a membrane known as the cell membrane. On the other hand a plant cells also contains a cell wall as well.

Vacuole

It as spherical cavity that contains water, waste as well as a number of substances requisite by the plant cell (Rieder, 1999: 132) (Low, 1996, 39).

Cell Membrane

It is a casing that covers up the cytoplasm; it works likes a filter, by controlling the way of definite substances outside and inside of the cell (Low, 1996, 39).

Cytoplasm

It is a clear gelatinous material surrounding a variety of cellular structures.

Nucleus

This organelle containing the cell's controlling activity and genes.

Chloroplast

Tiny structure, having a green colour called chlorophyll that soaks ups solar energy to uses it to make glucose, the food of vegetables (Packer & Douce, 1987: 39).

Cell Wall

It actually stiff external surface of the cytoplasm membrane that makes the cell in a shape (Chase, 2008, ...
