Chandra Levy Case

Introduction

There are many murder and missing cases which leave everyone perplexed. No one can figure out what happened to that person even after years of investigation. In a minority of such cases, the culprit does get convicted but even then, whole case remains a mystery. Many people do not believe that the culprit detained was the real suspect or the actual murderer/kidnapper is still roaming around freely. The Chandra Levy case is one these cases. In May 2001, the sudden disappearance of the young Chandra Ann Levy, an intern at the Federal Bureau of Prisons shook the United States.

Case

The young and beautiful Chandra Levy was born on April 14, 1977 in Cleveland, Ohio. She graduated in journalism at San Francisco State University. Her ambition was to become an FBI agent. For this, he enrolled in a Degree of Masters course in Public Administration at the University of South California (Fagan, 2002). Chandra went missing from her apartment on May 1st, 2001. Her parents reported her missing when she did not return home for her graduation ceremony. A missing complaint was filed and after the police investigation, her affair with the Congressman, Gary Condit, was revealed (Higham & Horwitz, 2010). On interrogation, Condit denied that he had anything to do with the disappearance of Chandra and also denied the affair. However, later interviews revealed the possibility of his intimate affair with Chandra. Due to the involvement with this case, the political career of Condit was ruined.

Further investigation showed that a day before she went missing, Chandra had searched about America's oldest national park, the Rock Creek Park. After this information was revealed, the police searched the 1,745 acre park but they were not able to find Chandra or any clues regarding her disappearance. However, the police did not search in the remote areas of the park.
