Statistical Assumptions of Chi-Square

The assumptions of Chi Square test include the following:

Each observation should belong to one and only one category;

No expected frequency may be less than one;

Not applicable if 20% of the observations or expected values ??are less than 5;

The items in the group must be selected at random;

The observations must be independent.
