Child Abuse

Child abuse is any mistreatment to a child that injurers a child in any way? shape or form. This report is about one type of child abuse? physical abuse. Physical abuse is hurting a child by beating? kicking? or physically injuring a child in any way. The other two types of child abuse are emotional and verbal abuses (Dave? 37-41). There are many different types of child abuse? one of which is child abuse. There have bee many different cases of physical abuse but there are only a few of which I have been informed. One case is the lawyer father who struck out with his fist and left his child unconscious on the floor before he retired to bed. Or the father who dunked the small child in the toilet? both of those children died. A mother and a father each killed a child and hid their bodies in a period of 4 years. All of the cases just mentioned came directly out the? "A Child Called It?" (Dave? 37-41) a book which was written by the child whose child abuse case was the 3rd worst in California? Dave Pelzer. These are just a few of the cases of physical abuse.

There are also a lot of reasons why a parent of a child might physically abuse a child. One of the reasons may be the economic and social changes that have pushed the family to its limit and made child abuse a lot likely (Pelzer 166). Sometimes parents think that they are only disciplining their child and it gets too rough and they end up hurting their child (Physical Abuse 9). If they do this repeatedly this maybe considered physical abuse. Physical abuse is any mistreatment or neglect of a child that results in non-accidental harm or injury and which cannot be reasonably explained (Physical Abuse 1) (Farmer? 13).

There are many different ways a child could be abused. Beating? burning? or wounding? using a closed fist? instrument? kicking throwing? or shaking a child constitutes physical abuse (Victims of Violence 2) (Dave? 37-41). Bruises are one of the most likely ways a person would abuse a child. Bruises on the face? arms? legs or torso are some signs a child is being abused. Burns are another way a person may abuse a child. Immersions or wet burns? such as "stocking burns?" or doughnut shaped burns on the buttocks? cigarette or cigar burns? especially on the palms? hands? and soles of feet? and rope burns (Victims of Violence 6). Lacerations and abrasions on lips? eyes? or any portion of an infants or child's face or on gum tissue are signs of physical abuse (Victims of Violence 7). Being able to recognize the signs of physical abuse could save a child (Farmer? 13).
