Christian Education Handbook

Analysis the Book Value

In this book, the author has provided a very supportive overview of the basics of education of Christian. Further, the author introduces the reader to several other famous writers working in the same field. The book is an excellent source for the people who seek to be more intentional about their work in education of Christian, or for those who takes workshops, trainings, and study Christian education. While the chapters are good in general, one should use the Bibliography of the author to understand what takes place in Education of Christian actually. The book is very good for people who want to know why Christian Education is vital. It is a very insightful book that all Christian educators should read.

The book has tried to do much in very little pages. While the book says that it has the basics of the educations of Christian, but at times the overview is so wide, that one can't see that much.

Strength and Weaknesses of the book

The book is excellent, the thesis of author is to integrate Christian education and theology while to not influences the church only, but to holistically impact the church. The author has fulfilled the purpose of integrating theology and education through the explanation of systematic theology with the application.

Regarding the integration of social sciences, the author didn't meet the goal. The author touched on the learning taxonomies, but didn't tell the reader that this was a type of integration. At this point, the author loose one of the primary goals stated to achieve Christian education.

The author has argued for integrating social sciences with theology, but never interacted with social science integration itself. This is a significant point considering the author's equated proper integration with true education of Christian. The only thing that looks like purpose to avoid the interaction is that the author might not have concluded exactly what education of Christian must or must not integrate, but this is only a guess.

The author has pointed out that it's a means to an end and not the end itself. This reminds the reader to focus on holistic discipleship. Helping the reader to understand how to inject other areas of theology in the education of Christian would have strengthened the book. An example of this would be teaching of biblical theology since it allows the learner to better understand systematic theology.

The book has a momentous value which will benefit any educator. There are many available solid systematic theology texts, but few provide the application of theology that has seen in the book. It is important for the educator to teach people how to connect orthopraxy and orthodoxy, which the author does excellently. The Christian Education is a fabulous book for educators in all level of ages.
