Introduction

The mental health of human beings is a growing industry of kinds. The human mind has undeniably suffered from a diversity of mental frailties since the first light of evolution. In recent times, the professional mental health concern entrenched in the human culture that is at same level with the care of human body. In the present world, people plainly converse about their deflated reflections that reflect the imbalance in their neurochemistry. Mankind realize it or not but they all speak with in the scaffold of mental health i.e. stress, anxiety, depression, personality and mood, and have become common in their discussion.

Cognitive neuroscience implies the study and observation of higher cognitive functions and fundamental neural bases in the humans. Cognitive neuroscience is an integrative field of study which principally draws from the cognitive science, neuroscience, psychology and linguistics. In cognitive neuroscience there are two wide directions that can be taken in attention, first is the experimental/behavioral, while the second is modeling/computational (Erickson, 2011). In both the cases, the main objective is to understand and recognize the nature of cognition from a neural outlook. Cognitive neuroscience relies on the hypothesis in neuropsychology and computational modeling coupled with cognitive science.

Cognitive Neuroscience

Before understanding the cognitive neuroscience, it is important to understand both the terms individually so that the concept becomes more clear and obvious. The term “cognition” is referred to the processes of human mind that are involved in the achievement of comprehension and knowledge. The courses include knowing, thinking, judging, remembering and problem solving and are the functions of brain that are higher in level and covers imagination, planning, language and perception.

The term “neuroscience” is the study and observation of the brain, nervous system and the biological basis of learning, perception, consciousness and memory of human beings. The brain and the nervous system are the physical basis of the learning process of human beings. Neuroscience connects the human observations about the cognitive behavior with the processes that are physically genuine and support such behaviors.

The academic field concerned with the scientific observation of biological substrates with a detailed concern on the neural substrates of the mental process is known as Cognitive Neuroscience. The questions of cognitive/psychological functions of brain production are addressed by the cognitive neuroscience. Cognitive neuroscience is the subdivision of neuroscience and psychology, and overlies with the disciplines like neuropsychology, physiological psychology and cognitive psychology. The theories in cognitive science with the evident coupling from the computational modeling and neuropsychology are followed by the cognitive neuroscience (Slotnick, 2012).

Background

A meeting was setup between various cognitivists around the world at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, in 1956, where George A. Miller proposed his paper of “The Magical Number Seven, Plus or Minus Two” while Newell & Simon and Noam Chomsky offered their research data on the computer science.
