Activities:

I assisted children between ages 4.5-7 in swimming, tennis, art, skateboarding and other sports.

In "International Club" we as a group organize charity events for a variety of international causes.

In "Community Club" we talk about racial differences and produce plays conveying our discussions.

In "Fashion Club," members donate clothing to those in need as well as honor international trends.

The "Disciplinary Committee" acts as a jury for students who have disobeyed school rules.

As a Teacher's Assistant it is my job to set up labs, grade student work and tutor students.

I was a yearbooks staff member, then junior editor and now a lead editor.

In the "Admissions Team" students aid in being visitor hosts as well as hosts on "Open House" nights

For the past three years, I have been part of the Drew School yearbook staff. I picked up a role in yearbook during my sophomore year and on to my senior year. My task in yearbook evolved from a staff member to an editor. As a yearbook editor now, I am able to contemplate the difficulties that go into being a leader of a community. For example, this year we had to decide on a final cover idea and we had to choose between two great cover ideas. As an editor, I decided that rather than debating about which cover would be best we should have a vote to decide on the cover design. As a result, we have decided on a yearbook cover outline and added more ideas that pleased the majority of the yearbook staff. When I signed up for yearbook initially, I had not realized that I would earn so many leadership skills that would continue to be a part of me as I continue through future careers.

Children Are the Future

I had been spending another summer at the Golden Gateway Tennis and Swim Club Kid's Camp. I had decided that in celebration of my birthday, I would bring in a large cake for all the children of the camp, also because camp would be ending soon. What I had in mind was to give the children a chance to communicate in a closer way with us, the counselors. At the end of the day, I saw how my idea to connect with the children had succeeded, but what warmed my heart most was what one little girl said to me that day. As I told her that I was now 15 years old upon her questioning, I asked her what she wanted to be when she grows up.
