The topic of my paper is to compare and contrast “General and Industrial Management by Henri Fayol and My Life and Work by Henry Ford”. The paper organizes in Controlling, Leading, Organizing, Planning and Coordinating mean five managerial tasks. The paper focused on the five primary functions of management. Management is getting things done through people, planning, organizing, staffing, leading and controlling are the functions of management.

Henry Fayol states that “Control consists or verifying whether everything occurs in conformity with the plan adopted, the instructions issued, and principles established. Almost everything that makes a leader turned to the future. Head plans to achieve the target in a while, just as fixed day, week or month, year, or more distant point in the future. During this period, a lot can happen, including the many dysfunctional changes. Employees may refuse to carry out their duties in accordance with the plan.

There may be laws against an approach that has elected leaders. The market may be a new strong competitor, which greatly complicate the organization achieve its goals. Or simply people can make mistakes in carrying out their duties. Such unforeseen circumstances may force the SunTrust Mortgage to deviate from the basic course, intended direction initially. And if the leadership will be unable to find and correct these deviations from the original plans, before the organization would be seriously impaired, goals, perhaps even survival will be jeopardized.

Controlling monitors performance and implements necessary changes. The organizations leaders must closely monitor how well the SunTrust Mortgage is doing. The leaders must be able to change and adapt to improved market conditions. By controlling the functions of the organizations, the leaders can quickly change how the business is run to meet market conditions (Anderson, 2002).

The contribution of Henri Fayol is well known to even the beginning student of management. Most principles of management textbooks acknowledge Fayol as the father of the first theory of administration, and his 14 principles as providing the framework for the process school of thought. While lauding Fayol's contributions, the text's authors typically present this material as a backdrop for the currently advocated contingency and systems approaches.
