Introduction

Acute pancreatitis remains a common and sometimes devastating disease of Western man. In the West, alcoholic beverageic beverageic beverage and stone disease are the most widespread causes. Computed tomography is the imaging procedure of choice in patients with acute inflammation of the pancreas.Pancreatitis is an inflammation of the pancreas. The pancreas is a large gland behind the stomach and close to the duodenum. The duodenum is the top part of the little intestine. The pancreas secretes digestive enzymes into the small intestine through a tube called the pancreatic duct. These enzymes help digest fats, proteins, and carbohydrates in food.
