Introduction

This paper is comparing two cities, in terms of their economy, demographics, geography, climate and history. I have chosen Nashville Tennessee and Chattanooga Tennessee to compare in this paper.

Nashville TN

Nashville is the capital of Tennessee, situated in the United States, and is the administrative seat of Davidson County. It is the second most populous city of the state. On the banks of the Cumberland River, is the Davidson County in the north central part of the state. It is also known as the "Music City, USA" as Nashville has a major recording industry. But since very long, it has been called the “Athens of the South", because of its educational institutions and its neoclassical architecture.

There are several other industries that contribute to the economy of the city, including health, publishing, banking and transport. Besides being the county seat, Nashville itself has a consolidated government with Davidson County (A government 'city-county "or city-county.). Some responsibilities are exercised by the municipalities themselves while others are specific to the government of the city-county (Durham, 90).

History

Nashville was founded in 1779 by Colonel John Donelson , under the name Fort Nash borough, in homage to the heroes of the Revolutionary War General Francis Nash (1742 - 1777), killed at the Battle of Germantown .
