Word rodeo is derived from Spanish it means summary. At first there seemed no difference between two versions of cowboy i.e. is the working class and the rodeo class, and in fact, working within the cowboy did not come into operation before 1950, before this it was assumed that all cowboys were employed. The early cowboys worked on ranches and displayed their skills in the raids.

The advent of professional rodeos allowed cowboys, like many athletes, to earn a living by performing their skills before an audience. Rodeo is also provided employment for many working cowboys who were needed for the treatment of livestock. Many rodeo cowboys are also working cowboys and most of them have experienced working of a cowboy (Bold, 2005, Pp.10-25).

Rodeo cowboy attire is not very different from a working cowboy. Styles are often borrowed from the film industry in the early rodeo. Some rodeo competitors, particularly women, add sequins, colors, silver and long strips to their clothing as a tribute to the tradition and spectacle. Modern riders have started to wear Kevlar and other protection but they are yet to use helmets even though they have the threat of serious injury.

Modern society sees the cowboy as an elegant man; rustic riding into the sunset, however, a real cowboy was a labor. His work was tiring, testing and temperamental. Tired and humiliated by long days of riding, they were faced with the daunting task of guiding animals from dawn to dusk. They fought in a thick layer of dust, wild animals, wild unpredictable weather (such as hail and snow), spring floods, stampedes, and even cattle rustlers.
