Introduction

The complete physical examination starts with the evaluation of head and proceeds through assessing the toes. It includes the overall assessment of the patient's body by inspection through three methods that are palpation, percussion and auscultation.

Discussion

The steps include in the examination are as following:

General: History of the patient's medical record and Body Mass Index (BMI) are measured.

Vital Signs: Temperature, pulse, heartbeat, respiration, and blood pressure are examined.

HEENT: Under this, the head, eyes, ears, nose and throat are inspected.

Neck: the lymph nodes and thyroid glands are examined.

Back: The spinal cord and muscles are inspected.
