Introduction

King Lear is one of the famous plays of Shakespeare. He always has been subject to much critique and discussion as audiences have always responded to it in many ways. This literary work is renowned for its complexities and is a true reflection of Shakespeare's genius. This tragedy is an amalgamation of complex and colorful characters and themes, highly intense emotions and a very intricate plot full of surprising twists and turns.

Discussion

The play is about political power and how it manifests itself in family dynamics. The king, out of utter foolishness gives his authority Goneril and Regan, landing his entire empire into chaos and tumult. As the two sisters indulge in their insatiable quest for power, and Edmund begins his own ascension, the entire kingdom falls into immense misery, and as the King's fate sees a tragic downfall, the entire country is also engulfed by civil strife, and disorder. The play is concerned with the fall of King Lear.

We can only guess what he was like in his prime, but it is safe to assume that he was a larger than life figure, dominant and quick-tempered. He enjoyed the virtuous life, carousing with his Knights and hunting. The land he ruled over was stable and strong, but he had little understanding of the problems faced by his subjects. If we turn the story and saying that he is not going to take tested his daughter, and always trust his daughter in mind. The story will remain the same as greed, lust, betrayal, insanity, thirsts for power and self-realization will remain between them.

Themes

The play contains a wide range of themes running though out. They are universal in nature and have been recurrently experienced by humanity, irrespective of religion or culture. The readers and the audience can connect to one or the other aspect of the play. For example, lust, betrayal, insanity, thirsts for power and self-realization.

Assuming different Story with Different End

We begin this story king's doctor tell the King Lear that he "will" die soon. He is diagnosed by a disease that is not curable. Finally, one day king think that what "will" going to happen, after him, who will take care of his three daughters Cordelia, Regan, and Goneril. From the day, when Regan and Goneril know that King's favorite daughter is Cordelia, they were very jealous with her. They never want Cordelia to be the next princess. King Lear decided that whoever will be the next princess, Edmund will be the prince of that princess.

Edmund is the prince of the other state; he also has two brothers Edgar and Gloucester. Edgar and Gloucester always feel jealous with his brother Edmund. Edmund is a very classy, handsome and very talented prince. Edgar and Gloucester are the step brothers of Edmund, as they wanted take his position, but due to Edmund intelligent they never beat him.
