Introduction

There are a number of theories to explain the nature and causes of crime from sociological perspective. We should not expect to find a single theory that identifies the ultimate rationale of all deviant behavior as the number of theories is as myriad as the types of crimes. However, the theory that I consider most relevant to the protest of militia members is Merton's Anomie Theory.
