Introduction

The Management of organization is the most important and integral part of every organization. The way a Management department runs, profoundly affects the whole organization. If a company has a flexible, highly skilled and strong management and workforce then it will surely be successful. The management of an organization shapes up the organizational behavior. If there is efficient management in an organization, it leads to a proper and effective structure of the organization. This book, “Public Management: A Three-Dimensional Approach,” written by Laurence Lynn and Carolyn Hill discusses three dimensional approaches towards the public management. This paper presents a critique on this book.

Discussion

In a typical working environment, there is a workplace with co workers and managers which creates a working environment. This environment can easily be linked to the three dimensional approaches which have been presented in the book. The three dimensional approaches are structure, culture and craft (Lynn & Hill, 2008). The structure is made up of the supervisors and managers as they manage and delegate the work and responsibilities and oversee the projects. Next comes, the culture, which is represented by the workers or employees of the organization as they contribute different ethics, values and moral in to the workplace where these merge together and are adopted as the culture. The last dimensional approach is craft. This is the way through which the workers or employees of the organization are influenced and guided by the managers for accomplishing the tasks and goals of the environment. The craft is the most significant approach of an organization, as with proper incentives and encouragement, the managers and supervisors can ensure that their employees work harder and yield good work.
