CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION

Outline of the Study

The outline for this study is to strategically investigate Human Resource Management Study for multinational corporations in developing countries and studies of human resource practices in various multinational organizations in developing countries.

Background of the research

Recent theoretical work on business strategy has shown that companies generate competitive advantages of the company Human Resources (HR). According to resource-based view, could firm competitive advantage through value creation in such a way that rare and difficult to imitate for competitors is to develop sustainably. Traditional sources of competitive advantages, such as natural resources, technology and economics of scale are increasingly easy to imitate. The concept of HR as a strategic asset has implications for this issue. HR is an invisible asset that value if it is in the operating system in the way that firm's ability embedded with the turbulent environment creates much improved.

Most studies show that strategic Human Resource Management (SHRM) practices lead to better performance. Consequently, the universal use of "best practice bundle" Human Resource (HR) practices such as recruitment, training, appraisals and compensation systems directly and indirectly improve organizational performance. However, the key criticism of this relationship that explains a sound theoretical development, as such practices operates SHRM missing.

Most organizations, the studies were carried out were large industrial enterprises, especially in the U.S. and Britain, although few studies have been initiated in other parts of the world, especially in developing countries like China and Slovenia, and some studies have shown similar results. This study extended the conceptual model variables of interest in connecting production of large foreign multinational companies (MNCs). The link includes both direct relationship between SHRM practices and organizational performance and indirect relationship mediated by the motivation of employees.

Problem Statement

The problem statement for this study will be to look at management practices adopted in relation to HR policies prepared by HR department in multi-national organization. Much stress is on the importance of multinational organization structure and culture in order to avoid confusion, in order to achieve maximum results with minimum resources.

Rationale

The basis of this study is on case study, conducted with Kyocera Mita India Pvt Limited that was hanging corporate culture and structure of the multinational organization and what role Strategic Human Resource Management plays in this process.

The project is aimed to cover maximum knowledge of HR practices followed in organization and how performance is evaluated of employees,
