Cultural Background

Originality and uniqueness of Armenia stands on three pillars, which are unique charm of its mountainous nature, the ancient Christian heritage, and the national culture of the nation. This is the main wealth of Armenia, which the country managed to sustain throughout its dramatic history. Armenia is situated at the crossroads of routes between East and West, which was a permanent place of collision between the great empires of ancient and medieval times. Rome, Iran, Byzantium, Arabs, Seljuks, Mongols passed through Armenia, for a long time, sometimes for centuries, breaking its cultural development, covering a land of smoking ruins. Being able to resist each of the powerful conquerors, the people remained faithful to their culture and could not undergo changes. Therefore, the Armenian national culture has wonderfully interwoven features of the eastern and western civilizations.

Armenian material and spiritual culture is based on the rich cultures of the ancient inhabitants of the Armenian plateau and all the ethnic elements that are involved in the formation of the Armenian people. The Armenian culture developed under two influences, which are the western (Hellenism) and eastern (Parthia). However, these effects only supplement and enrich the national culture. Christianity is one of the powerful sources of world culture, which has created new forms in architecture, art, and music. An important milestone in the development of culture of the people was the creation, in 405, of the Armenian alphabet Mesrop Mashtots and national literature.

Therefore, my family has played a significant role in developing cultural values in me. I learned to believe in the merit of women.
