Current Issues With Respect To Inclusion

Introduction

The term Inclusion encompasses on the educational programs that serve the special education for special children with mental, emotional, behavioral and physical disabilities. Practically, the act of 'Individuals with Disabilities Education' works to ensure proper free education is provided to children with disabilities. In 1975, 'All handicapped children Act sets the stage for bringing the disable children who have been shut out of school for limited school service. Among the states, the standards for educating children with disabilities varied (SEDL, 2012). In 2009, a survey was conducted by the United States Department of Education which estimates that more 5.8 million special education services were provided to the special children. It was also estimated that more than half of all the students receiving the special education service spend their time in the classrooms. The issues arising from the inclusion of these children along with other students are raising concerns for the education system to prepare for preparedness and cost associated with it (Roger, 2005).

The major concern is to advance the inclusion of special children in general classrooms of the schools. According to the Individualized Education Program, separate education roadmap should be created for every student with a disability. Along with their educational programs it is important to evaluate the performance of such students.

The main problem in the functionality of this act was that few states were too slow in comprehending the actual planned outcomes. It was not until 2001, act of No child left Behind that significantly made efforts on testing and accounting system that ensure increase participation of disable students with others in the system (SEDL, 2012).
