Current Leader Analysis

Introduction

The leadership challenges in concern with the mobilization of leaders to others for the purpose to achieve organizational goals. Leaders use different approaches to transform morals into actions, ideas into realities, risk into rewards and complication into improvement. Today's leaders form such a strategy that makes employees challenging and turn these challenging opportunities in to significant successes.

Leadership is one of the most discussed, examined, and yet elusive ideas in the social sciences particular in general and educational leadership. In spite of the innumerable definitions of leadership and claims made about it, we continue to seek greater understanding in both theory and practice. The history of leadership thought is itself a complicated and treacherous journey that has implications not only for how we understand the meaning of leadership but also for what definitions and claims about leadership are regarded as appropriate, valued, and honored.

A quick glance at today's leadership scenario will reveal that things have really undergone a transformation. Contemporary leaders are quite different from leaders of yore. We don't have dictators in our midst today. Truth is that if there were any dictators, they would have been toppled over sooner than they could make their first decree. Today, leadership is more about being accommodating, about thinking of the other individual in the team as much as thinking about oneself. Any formula that governs powerful leaders of today is much different from what it was all those years ago (Kotter, 1990).

Today's Leaders Have a Curious Mind

This is one of the first traits of modern leaders. People in a position today keep their positions not by being egotistic about their knowledge but being humble about what they know. They are always thirsty for learning more. The world today is transforming itself by the minute, and people in position know that they have to keep up with the world if they have to stay in the game. Curiosity doesn't kill the cat anymore; it makes effective leaders of people.

Today's Leaders Have More Spunk

This refers to the level of energy and enthusiasm that leaders have today. They aren't just aristocrats sitting on high thrones, but they are people who are as involved and excited about their projects as other people on their team are, i.e. the people who take instructions from them and ...
