Chemical Reactions

Chemical reactions are processes in which one or more substances are transformed into one or more different properties. For the existence of a chemical reaction there must have reactive substances and substances that form reaction or the chemical reagent that reacts. Substances that are generated due to a chemical reaction are called the resulting substance or chemical. Chemical changes alter the internal structure of the reactants. A chemical reaction is a process by which one or more chemicals, called reagents, are transformed into one or more substances with different properties, called products. A mathematical expression to a chemical reaction is necessary to use an expression which identifies the reactants and products.

This expression is called a chemical equation. There are four types of reactions: a) Combination b) Decomposition c) Displacement d) Double combination

The reactions can also be classified into a) homogeneous chemical reaction and b) heterogeneous chemical reaction.

The study of the speed with which a chemical reaction takes place, consuming and releasing chemical reactant chemicals are called chemical kinetics. We can express the speed of reaction as the relationship has entered the mass of reactant consumed and duration of the reaction. You can also take the speed of reaction and the relationship between the mass of product formed and the reaction time. There are several factors that can accelerate the speed of chemical reaction. For example, if the concentration of reactants increases, this will result in an increase in the speed of chemical reaction. Similarly if the contact surface between the reactants increases, will be an effect of increasing the speed of chemical reaction. Another factor that increases the speed of chemical reaction is the change in temperature. The catalysts positive and negative catalysts also influence the increase or decrease the speed of chemical reaction.

When analyzing a chemical reaction is very important to consider the law of conservation of mass. This means that in any chemical reaction the total mass of chemical reactants must equal the total mass of chemicals. Indeed, the law of conservation of mass states that matter is neither created nor destroyed only transformed. Another aspect to be taken into account when analyzing chemical reactions is that in chemical reaction substances reacts in fixed proportions by mass. French chemist Joseph Louis Prost enunciated this phenomenon as follows: "When two or more elements combine to form a compound, they do a fixed mass." This principle in the behavior of the chemical reaction results in that, as the chemicals react in the same proportion, if one of the reactants is in excess over the other, the excess will not participate in the reaction.
