Decriminalization of Use and Possession of Marijuana

Introduction

The topic of decriminalizing the use and possession of Marijuana which has scientific name, Cannabis Sativa is a very conservational issue in United States. There are different arguments mutually for and against decriminalization. One thing that is most important that arguments should be based on information with facts. Drugs are unthinkable matter in United States, because people are amateurish or take in dishonorable thoughts by government education. It makes most people feel that, anyone who uses drugs is a threat to society. Drug abuse for the most part is a victimless offense only affecting the addict and, therefore, should be the addict's preference. There are certain laws, which are applicable, in many countries for almost every drug that, the actions occurs due to the usage of that drug led to the offense. With the help, of rules and regulations nobody can misuse it. It is my point of view that legalization of marijuana will not harm the society.

Marijuana which has scientific name, Cannabis Sativa is a very controversial topic for United States. Some people want banned on it, and some want to legalize it. I just want to discuss some positive aspects of marijuana which can create some benefits for individual also for the country as a whole. The history of marijuana is so old and has its impact in different cultures at different times. It is also famous with the name of 'weed', which was used for making clothes. The use of it as a drug started in earlier ages when alcohol was not much common. The use of marijuana started from there, and for United States, it became a problem (Grinspoon, p. 142).

United States is among those countries where it is extensively used. Legalization of it surely give benefits to the US and, it will also create a lot of options for job seekers and country can earn millions of dollar. It is a fact that people are using it although it is legalized or not. In some states, it is legal but with some limitations. Selling marijuana and raising money for the country is the best option for the states to raise their financial accounts (Grinspoon, p. 144).

Government can provide a license to the dealers, and can earn money, and through tax, they can also earn tremendous revenue. The licensing system should be properly monitored and authorized. It will also affect the crime rate in a very effective way. Illegal drug crimes take police officers' time, and they remain busy all the time in catching the persons who are holding even less quantity of marijuana. This approach will also condemns the illegal buying selling of it and reduce the smuggling of it throughout the country. If the government would want to control the selling of marijuana, it can easily keep an eye on the purchase and sale of it.
