Abstract

The Department of Homeland Security is the law enforcement authority that is adequately working with the other agencies to make sure that the Security of United States and its people is important enough and is advancing day by day with the unique measures and tools. In this Research paper the purpose, missions, and creation of the (DHS) Department of Homeland Security is described in the first phase. In the second part the federal agencies working under the DHS are identified along with the detailed role of Department of Defense (DoD) as an example. In Next step, weapons of mass destruction, biological weapons, and chemical weapons are discussed later in this paper. The measures taken by the Government of United States in order to protect the citizens from its destructions is included. In the Final Stage I have consider myself to be the Homeland Security Consultant for the Southwest Florida. The preparedness plan and the coordination with other agencies is explain with the measures for the citizens.

Introduction

Before the incident of WTC on September 11, 2001, there were about forty federal agencies that were responsible for the handling and dealing with the security of U.S President of that time George W.Bush declared for the concern of the DHS (Department of Homeland Security) on 22nd September, 2001.

This Department of Homeland Security was recognized to overlook and organize the defense system of the United State Homeland. It was to secure the land from the terrorism and avoid any potential attacks by the terrorists on United State (Jordan, 2006).

Discussion

The purpose of Department of Homeland Security is to secure the states from several of the forthcoming threats and hazards which intimidate the national security of the country. The main purposes of this department is

Safeguard against violence

Security of the borders

Enforcement of the strict immigration regulations

Improvement of the quick and rapid responses in case of the disasters

Strengthening the collaborations and partnerships

Adequate usage of the science and technology tools.

The DHS of United States protects the citizens of America by coordinating with the different local as well as the national law enforcement organizations to identify and eliminate the threats to United States peace (Hedgpeth, 2008).

This Department was established to overview and manages the Defense systems of United States. It was intended to secure the country from intimidation and avoid prospect future terrorist attacks on United States.DHS organize the efforts of over 87,000 federal states and local official bodies into one main division connected to sixteen major divisions (Hanson, 2010).
