Depression



Abstract

This study provides the psychologist view about depression and also provides various problems associated with it. This study also discussed the various important aspects of the clinical and psychological study of depression. It provides complete analysis of the causes and reasons of depression and sign and symptoms that can assist in the diagnosis and treatment. This study also provides the worst effects which can result in case of depression. It also discussed the concepts and theories associated with it.

Depression

Introduction

Depression is the most commonly used termed in today's modern world. Everyone is found to have complaint of depression. Even children also have problems of depression whenever there is anything that troubles them they think they must be having depression. Generally depression is not a simple idea as people consider whenever they are feeling sad, boring or tensed they consider it with the feeling of depression. It is not completely wrong these are also aspect that involved in the feeling when a person feels depressed, but it not true that whenever person has anything like he is depressed. In a more technical terminology and psychological way there are various factors that can lead to the depression and these factors are also involves the psychologist's point of view which are quite different from a layman's definition of Depression.  Williams define psychology in a proper psychological and medical context as “depression was the result of deficiencies in some combination of biogenic amines in the brain” (Williams,1992, p.11). This provides a pure scientific and biological reason and definition of depression. There are various other definitions of depression according to the Psychologist point of view. To understand the proper definition and meaning of depression is very important because it also helps in understanding the reasons of depression and then to provide better treatment for it. It is also considered as the serious problem and it is always associated with the anxiety. There are various other psychological terms associated with it like phobias, obsession and other behavioral patterns that lead to depression. Clinical psychology is the branch of psychology that deals with these terms and concerns in a proper clinical and behavioral studies (Cryan,& Leonard, 2010).. This help to resolve the problems associated with depression by the help of medical treatments. According to the most of psychologists it is better to treat depression as a proper disorder and if it is not treated accurately it may lead to serious mental disorders (Sheehan, 2002).

Discussion

It is the most important concern for the psychologists to treat depression properly and any other problems related with the depression. The main reason is that depression can result in various other disorders and behavioral problems like it may result in addiction or use of excessive alcohol which can result in the other physical disorders. It can also result in insomnia and heart diseases even heart attacks. This requires proper attention towards this concern and to treat depression at early stage.
