Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom

After the armed detachment of Iraq invaded and apprehended Kuwait, the first armed detachment order to drive armies to Saudi Arabia was the XVIII Airborne Corps. The Corps was made up of the 82nd Airborne Division, the 24th Infantry Division (MECHANIZED) and the 101st Airborne Division. When the stand-by instructions came in, the 101st was spread around the country. One Battalion was in Panama undergoing jungle warfare teaching, another Battalion was organising for a peacekeeping mission in the Sinai, and 1,000 fighters were at West Point teaching cadets. Several other flats were working with book and nationwide Guard units. Within days, the mobilization appliance was running at full speed.

On August 17, 1990 the first units of the 101st arrived in Saudi Arabia. 2,700 troops, 117 helicopters, 487 vehicles, and 125 pallets of provision was conveyed on board 110 US Air Force C-5 and C-141 transport aircraft. Meanwhile, the remainder of the partition was laden up on transport boats in Jacksonville, FL and 46 days subsequent arrived in the Saudi dock of publicity Daman. The 101st was the first US armed detachment partition to have all of it assets in theater.

Shortly after appearance, the 101st moved to monarch Faud airport and established their groundwork camp the dubbed "Camp Eagle II." Miles of concertina cable were extended and millions of sandbags were topped up to protected the base. Every constituent of the 101st took part, even the Division Band who increase two-fold as security for the partition Tactical Operations Center. When the plans for the liberation of Kuwait were finalized, the 101st was informed of its mission. When the assault started, the 101st, along with the 82nd Airborne and the French 6th Light Armored Division, would advance on the left flank of the accelerate and move north in the direction of Baghdad and the Euphrates stream Valley. The 101st then moved to their ahead functioning Base which was entitled "Bastogne."

In the 1990-1991 Gulf conflict, fighters from the armed detachment Space Institute, armed detachment Space and armed detachment Space Program agency established as persons or as constituents of ad hoc task forces, with little formalized training.
