Developing Curriculum Practice

Introduction

Curriculum framework is a document that defines the set of objectives for a particular course. It defines the measurable outcomes of a particular course i.e. after studying the course what things and which concepts should the student know. A curriculum plan defines the teaching techniques and methodology over the period. A curriculum framework is a part of the result oriented education system, which has focus on setting a benchmark and achieving it. It is one of the starting steps of achieving high standard education, i.e. defining achievable benchmark in a clear and transparent way. After setting the benchmark, the designing of curriculum is done according to the benchmarks and then the students are judged according to these benchmarks. This type of education system is in quite contrast to the traditional system of education that was concerned only about delivering specific material to the students without any specific objectives or benchmarks. This new system of education promises that every student will succeed if the students are held to high expectations. In this system, after completion of a course there will be no gap between the different groups. Everyone would meet the high standards and will have training to deliver at a high profile job with a healthy salary. A weekly curriculum plan defines the techniques and methodologies that a teacher will apply in a week to achieve the objectives defined in the curriculum framework.
