Development of Boeing 707 & KC-135

Abstract

In this study we try to explore the concept of the Boeing 707 and its prototype KC-135 in a holistic context. The main focus of the research is on development of these jetliners and its relation with “Second World War”. The research also analyzes many aspects of the Boeing 707 and KC-135 and tries to gauge its effect on the development of these new kinds of jetliners. Finally the research describes various factors which were responsible for the development of jetliners and tries to describe the overall effect of these aircraft on the history.

Introduction

The development of Boeing 707 and KC-135 was an amazing invention in the history of aviation. Both the models of the jet liner are special in their own kind. The Boeing Company firstly developed the Boeing 707 and KC-135 at its own expense without a single penny from the U.S government. KC-135 was developed as a test aircraft with gas turbine engines. Therefore, the company did not disclose the idea of such aircraft until KC-135 was finally developed. Once the aircraft K -135 had its successful operation, the company introduced the model of Boeing 707 as its first aircraft with the gas turbine engine. After the successful introduction of these aircrafts, the U.S Air Force ordered the company to develop similar kinds of aircraft for the military and civilian purposes. The Boeing Company mainly emerged during the period of Second World War. The company was known for making huge and strong aircrafts.

Discussion

In the U.S., Boeing was the first company that developed the jetliners and assessed the potential of gas turbine engines to equip a new generation of civil transport aircraft.
