There are different classification systems in use for the diagnosis of reading disorder. The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 4th edition, technical revision (DSM-IV-TR) recognizes three broad categories of learning disabilities, known as Reading Disorder, Mathematics Disorder, and Disorder of Written Expression.
