Difference between Chinese and British Traditional Motivational Methods

Introduction

The main purpose of this paper is to discuss the differences between the Chinese traditional methods of motivation with the British Traditional motivation methods. In people oriented management, one of the keys to improve the management performance is to use the appropriate method for motivating the people for the creative work. This research question is very important for the dissertation as it will help in understanding the main culture of China and Britain and also to understand the motivational methods in both countries.

Literature Review

From the above analysis we can see the incentive method of ancient Chinese and British management theory of incentives proposed methods have in common, are from the material and spiritual aspects of motivation, and some method is basically similar. The common description of the different cultural traditions and different motivational methods is that people have some common needs, and thus have a general law of incentives. However they have two different backgrounds that's why there research methods and the motivational approach is different. From the research point of view, the ancient Chinese practice experience through incentives proposed method which is more intuitive. This motivational method causes the lack of theoretical depth analysis of the mechanism as there is no increase for the system of management theory. The British motivational method is based on the experiment, in-depth analysis of experiments and the results of practice in order to find out the incentive mechanism. By deepening understanding of human nature, the deepening of British management theory, motivation methods also will continue to improve. There is difference between the motivational methods of two countries because of many reasons like:

Chinese do prefer their family values and they give the priority to their families, this is the reason that in order to motivate them the companies give incentives that can benefit their families. In contrast, the British give the preference to the money and materialistic incentives that is why companies give them the incentives in shape of material benefits. Another thing is that Chinese people give more importance to their friendship. If you believe that leaders, managers, good for him, he will serve his loyalty, not to care about the material interests of the gains and losses.

Comparison of the incentive method of ancient Chinese and British motivational methods can get the following revelation:

China has got its own unique culture and values, therefore the companies prefer to motivate them by providing them a social environment where they can interact with other people. In contrast, in Britain, people prefer to work individually and they are being given the incentives in shape of the salary increment and others.
