Abstract

In the current era of globalization, school classes are becoming increasingly multicultural and multilingual. When students from different cultures come into contact with the educational system of another culture, he or she has to experience different teaching styles, the classroom environment and learning style. Country's education system is a reflection and product of culture in this country and, therefore, culture plays an important role in the student's learning style. Scientists believe that culture and human behavior in this culture are the main factors affecting this learning habits and skills.

Statement of the Problem

Each student has different learning. Culture, family and socio-economic environment plays an important role in the student's learning style. The aim of this research is to study the effects of different cultures upon learning of the students.

The need for research

Learning style depends on the nature and education of students (Myers, 1990). Most scientists and researchers agree that culture affects learning styles of students (Ramirez, 1989; Gardner, 1991). There are a number of studies available that define the structure of education of racial minorities in the United States (Hale-Benson, 1986; Hilliard, 1989; Shade, 1989). According to Christian, (1994), group interaction helps students realize the benefits of a bilateral approach; since the presence of media and language groups makes the environment a program is more conducive to bilateral second language learning.

This study is important because it addresses the role of the two - way bilingual programs in order to improve the educational situation of racial minorities in the United States. Effectiveness of programs such as two-way immersion depends on the fact that the program deals with cultural issues of students at risk. The study will also evaluate the program with regard to issues of cultural minority students that create differences in learning styles.

Purpose

The purpose to carry out this study are to show how the two-way immersion program helps minority students, their family and cultural background and poverty, are unable to attain higher education and therefore could not improve social position.

Literature Review

Cultural and family history of racial minorities in the United States can make an important contribution to educational achievement and learning style man. Irvine and York (1995) argue that "the culture of students of color or their" lifestyle "is often uncomfortable with the hopes of the middle class cultural values, beliefs and norms of schools. Such cultural differences a great contribution to the school failure of students of color "(p. 489)

Some scientists believe that the learning environment is really responsible for teaching students: "All students can learn, provided that the conditions forming agreements with different learning styles" (Irvine and York, 1995, p. 494). Irvine & York believe that teachers are most responsible for the achievement gap among minority students. "The concept of learning styles offers a value-neutral approach to understand individual differences among students of different ethnic .... It is assumed that everyone can teach, always a teacher to adequately respond to individual ...
