History

DreamWorks was founded by David Geffen, Jeffrey Katzenberg, and Steven Spielberg in 1994. In 1997, the company released two feature films 'The Peacemaker' and 'Amistad'. DreamWorks co-produced with Paramount and released a feature film Saving Private Ryan in 1998. In the same year, the company released two animated feature films Antz and The Prince of Egypt. In 1999, the company released feature film American Beauty. In the following year, DreamWorks released several feature films in co-production with Universal Studios, Sony, Universal and 20th Century Fox. (Busack, 47-50)

DreamWorks associated with Universal Pictures and released a feature film A Beautiful Mind in 2001. In the same year, the company released an animated film Shrek. Further, DreamWorks co-produced with Warner Brothers and released feature film A.I.: Artificial Intelligence.

In December 2010, DreamWorks, The Walt Disney Studios and IMAX Corporation announced of releasing 'I Am Number Four' and 'Real Steel' feature films in digital IMAX. Also the same month, the company made a preemptive acquisition of Southpaw, a pitch for Eminem by Kurt Sutter.

The company in January 2011, acquired rights of Spanish film 'Time Crimes'. DreamWorks acquired Nic Kelman's script - Genneris in March 2011. In June 2011, the company roped in Tom McCarthy to write home movies.
