The content shown in the video “Drug Control in Central Asia” is a policy issue. As the video narrates that war on terror, has faded war on drugs. According to the video Afghanistan produces more than 70% of the world's poppy and heroin, and had largest poppy production in the current year, and most of the profits from the drug trade gets used to fund the war. Another supporting point for the content to be as a policy issue is that US has failed to control the drug trade by focusing more on winning the war on terror, and focusing less on controlling drug trade. Therefore, the policy adopted by US that is focusing on fighting the war on terror has issues in it. Furthermore, the government Afghanistan has not provided enough employment s to their people, which left no other option to the people except growing poppy. Both US and Afghanistan have issues in their policy as highlighted by the video (DeckerScott & Chapman, 2008).

What causal factors were addressed in the video?

The causal factors that were discussed in the video mainly comprised of lack of education, health and employment in Afghanistan due the ongoing war (since last 30 years) that has forced the people over there to either fight for the war lords or earn a living by growing poppy. As the highlighted by Ahmad Saeed a former teacher in Afghanistan who got affected by the war as schools got destroyed, hence he had no other option excerpt from growing poppy in his small piece of land. Another causal factor highlighted in the issue is that drug trading is a highly lucrative business, and the fastest way to earn money; therefore, people prefer opting this as a way to earn a living (Drug Control in Central Asia).

What policy implications or recommendations were provided in the video to address the crime?

As narrated by Tariq Amin Saeed (Governor of the province Badakhshan) in the video that by creating jobs in the public sector through employments in schools, public projects and health clinics they can keep people away from growing poppy.
