ABSTRACT

In the present era one of the most discussed, analyzed and written about concept has been change management, and the topics related to change management: resistance to change management. The literal definition of change is to make something different. One can cause something to change, or one can bring change upon one's self. In an organization change is always seen as multifariously which is explained as creating differentiation in comparison of something with its earlier state, it can also by term as transforming something into completely new face with new ideology and which occurs in business as an prospect function. Similarly there are many definitions of change management but the most suitable definition of change management is adopting corporate, structures, strategies, technologies and procedures to deal with changes in external conditions and the business setting. Sonangol ltd is a UK based subsidiary of the Angolan National oil company, Sonangol E.P. Concerned with its growing volume of paperwork (and other sustainability considerations) it introduced the Therefore system, an electronic document storage solution, which allows for an automated office and a reduction in physical paperwork. This study will look into what leaders and managers at Sonangol Ltd can or need to do in order to improve the change process? (i.e. From current archiving system to the electronic data storage solution). The objective of this study is to identify ways in which managers/leaders can help the change process from one system to another, with a view to aid future change processes at Sonangol LTD or Sonangol E.P. and its subsidiaries. Literature review will seek to explain if different leadership styles are needed to attain different results, and how the leaders can implement change and manage the transition process.
