Chapter 2: Literature Review

There have been many relevant studies on the impact of research approach in the development of vocabulary and reading comprehension. This section will discuss the various literatures on the subject.

What is it?

Inquiry based learning is primarily demanding the learner and guiding him to understand. Inquiry here entails on the owning attainments and attitude of the learner, which admits the learner to ask questions about new results and issues while you are acquiring fresh info.

Of the many compelling reasons for providing students with instruction to build vocabulary, none is more important than the contribution of vocabulary knowledge to reading comprehension. Indeed, one of the most enduring findings in reading research is the extent to which students' vocabulary knowledge relates to their reading comprehension concluded that comprehension development cannot be understood without a critical examination of the role played by vocabulary knowledge. Given that students' success in school and beyond depends in great measure upon their ability to read with comprehension, there is urgency to providing instruction that equips students with the skills and strategies necessary for lifelong vocabulary development.

The inquiry learning is an attitude towards life, where the very essence of this means involving the individual in a problem from this perspective, should provide solutions. Within the learning environment, intended to assist the teacher students to externalize all these great ideas through questions and inquiry constant In addition, students look forward to, entering the bottom of the ideas, ideas, develop that sense of wonder at the reality, analyzing, understanding and reflecting. These conditions allow the inquiry approach, to facilitate a active participation of students in the acquisition of knowledge, help develop critical thinking, problem-solving ability and skill in processes of science and mathematics, essential elements to constitute pedagogical practice to develop approaches to learning through projects.

This approach to literature education have become less popular in the mid-1970's, however, partly in response to the "back to basics" movement, which was inspired by lowering the test results and the growth of political conservatism. More recently, however, has been increased interest in literature education reform, partly inspired by the low international competitiveness of U.S. students in literature and the general belief in the growing scientific and technological superiority of Japan to the United States.
