Effects of Parenting Styles on Children's Development

Abstract

The paper describes the role of parenting style and its impact on the child's development. Child development can be described as growth, physically and emotionally, and cognitive development-biologically. Parenting style plays an essential role in developing the personality of the child as the child grows up. To live a satisfying and momentous life, two areas are very important for individuals. Interpersonal relationships and intellectual capability development defines the proper development of a child.

Parenting researchers often highlights the importance of parental control, and they typically study two types: behavioral control (things like setting rules, restrictions, and types of discipline) and psychological control. Behavioral control seems to work best at moderate levels. For example, children who are well-adjusted tend to have parents who provide them with appropriate levels of structure (not too lax, not too rigid), and discipline them consistently and without getting physical. Psychological control, on the other hand, includes things like guilt trips, love withdrawal, and verbal hostility things that typically don't bode well for child outcomes, particularly in the context of other risk factors, like living in a high-conflict home (Shelton, 2007).

Discussion and Analysis

During the first years of life, which many consider a period single development, parents are particularly important. As parents' guide their young children from total dependence in the early stages of autonomy, parenting behaviors may have an immediate impact and sustainable social functioning of their offspring, in areas such a moral development, play with peers and academic achievement. To ensure the best possible outcome for children, parents must balance, on the one hand, the requirements in terms of maturity and discipline, which permit the integration of children in the family and social system, and on the other hand, maintaining an atmosphere of heat, sensitivity and support. When behavior and parents' attitudes do not reflect an appropriate balance between these two elements in the preschool years, children may face a multitude of adjustment problems.
