Introduction

Respect for the elderly is an important concept in many countries and especially in societies with the teachings of respect for others. Asians, in particular, are taught that the older generation should be revered and respected as they are the parents of that generation. However, in the U.S. many aged persons are mistreated and abused each year. They are physical, verbal, and mental and abused by their children or those who work to care for them.
