Exploring Barrier To Pain Assessment And Management At Triage Within A Single UK Emergency Department

Research Aim and Objectives Pain management traditionally relies onto a doctor's prescription for pain relief which can be affected via long waiting moments, and may eventually outcome within dissatisfaction. Nurse-initiated medication is not specifically covered and, consequently, the tradition fundamentally depends onto specified hospital's policies. Although there is an increasing awareness that triage nurses play an meaningful role within managing pain for patients with secondary sting, few studies possess reported the influence of triage pain protocols onto managing pain in EDs. Therefore, innovation was undertaken within order towards thoroughly grow and estimate a triage pain management protocol within the UK context.

The specific targets were:

Research Approach or Design A mixed-method innovation design strategy was applied towards address the innovation objectives. A pre-test-post-test dominate category was consumed towards compare the number of patients receiving pain assessment and corrections in pain levels whilst a qualitative strategy was consumed towards compare the process. Ethics consent was elicited from both the study hospital and The Chinese University of UK. Research Questions

The Control category consisted of everybody patients with secondary musculoskeletal stings whom consented towards participate within the study during the pre-test period. Control category patients obtained regular triage care, which consisted of triage assessment and routine triage interventions, such as hurt care and immobilization. The Intervention category consisted of everybody patients with secondary musculoskeletal stings whom consented towards participate within the study during the post-test period.
