Emerging Adulthood

Introduction

The times are not the same; we are seeing people over age and fewer than 30 living with parents, studying, working and no plans to become independent or married. In 1983 Dr. Dan Kiley published his book "The Peter Pan Syndrome: Men who have never grown up (" Peter Pan syndrome, the person who never grows up "). Where he spoke extensively with the inability of some people to leave the nest of adults who refuse to grow refuse to stop being children for parents, this book brings as egoism, individualism, narcissism, anger, anxiety, and of course is a sign of great social immaturity, psychological as is usually accompanied by sexual dysfunction (Schaie, 1977).

However, this term has come to make a way for 'emerging adulthood' or 'late adolescence'; this term comes from the vision of the youth of today. The truth is that every time this phenomenon gaining ground, we have certainly changed, probably at our age if we are within 18 to 30 our parents were already married with children and with a steady job today for this to happen must be factors that contribute, such a good job after many years of study since it is becoming more difficult to enter the market turns up with ever more competitive.

In short there are some who even want to add emerging adulthood as a new stage of development, more than this if we accept that changing society and the factors that our behavior is logical to do so, it should be noted that the fact that something already known to be not doing something good at all (Waterhouse, 2006). Man must accept adulthood with consequences this brings with it, take responsibility ...
