EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES ASSIGNMENT

Emerging Technologies Assignment

Emerging Technologies Assignment

Introduction

Today, there is no doubt that the emerging technologies of information and communication known to alter the teaching. But, for that to happen, so that the changes do not remain a mere alteration of support, will result in a real review of courseware currently given.

For this part of the work, my presentation based on a report called Horizon 2011 that emanates from the Project Horizon 1 of New Media Consortium (NMC). A project that began in 2002 and whose work is to identify, quantitatively and qualitatively, emerging technologies to have a strong impact on teaching, learning, research and creative expression within organizations dedicated to sports (Branscomb 2003, p. 45).

The Horizon Report term emerging technology those key tools used today as well, promise significant growth in the coming years. Under this umbrella, the Horizon project encompasses different kinds of innovations, that are transforming the ways of thinking and acting with ICT, among others, include:

technological resources for sports in general,

care resources to especially diversity,

New ways to promote and ensure equal opportunities,

New methods of communication,

The novel frames of reference to the user-professional relationship,

The assessment process guidance.

Discussion

Managers operate from mental models that impose order on ambiguous situations to reduce uncertainty to manageable levels. These mindsets usually are sensible adaptations to what the managers have learned from past experience. However, humans tend only to see what fits these mental models and either filter out or distort what does not fit.

The mental models are helpful for the incremental innovational settings of the myopic as well as of dysfunctional models these are applied in the unfamiliar situations of the emerging technologies. Because of the limitations of their mental models, managers may not appreciate the opportunities that are latent in an emerging technology. For example, when IBM considered adding the Haloid-Xerox 914 copier in 1958, the primary concern was whether the existing electric typewriter salesforce could handle the product. Emerging technologies are often framed as suitable only for narrow applications that are not yet required by existing customers. It is quite easy to dismiss such unproven technologies on the grounds that small markets will not solve the growth needs of large firms. Of course, all large markets were once in an embryonic state with their origins in limited application. IBM at first did not see the great opportunity in PCs. They were deemed to be entry systems from which buyers would eventually move to mainframes. IBM's ill-fated decision in the early 1980s not to obtain an exclusive license on Microsoft's operating system is testimony to this major blindspot, as is IBM's failure to exercise its purchase option for 10 percent of Intel (whose stock price increased 40-fold between 1985 and 1997).

Example

The European Union intends to invest 500 million euros by 2013 for the development of ICT research projects through the new FET (Future and Emerging Technologies) to improve the lives of citizens. Some examples of European research carried out in the field of the future and emerging communication technologies (FET) were presented ...
