Introduction

Emotional intelligence is one of the most important aspects considering the success in any situation. The term 'Emotional Intelligence' was coined by two academic psychologists; Peter Salovey and Jack Mayer, of the Yale University in the year 1990. Emotional Intelligence (EI) or Emotional Quotient (EQ) is basically an ability to recognize, understand and subsequently modify or choose the way one thinks, feels and acts. The set of competencies that is required for this ability to be developed is of profound importance in the determination of success. The term was later popularized by a book of the same name by Daniel Goleman. The researches of Goleman pre-dominantly revolved around the importance of the emotions and their control in our personal and professional lives. The set of competency declared to be of specific importance to the emotional intelligence involves self-awareness, managing emotions, motivation, empathy and social skills. This set differs from person to person making the emotional intelligence of one person differ from that of the other. People are distinguished on the basis of their ability to manage their feelings in addition to how they interact and communicate with one another.

Discussion

This situation should be tackled with deep thought processing as it is of significant impact. Writing; and particularly creative writing, is a career that requires originality that comes accompanied with specific thinking style and perception. The writer in the situation under consideration has not yet reached the pinnacle of his career and rather is at the start of the career ladder. Although he has won various writing competitions that are open to the general public in which participation is entitled through the sending of entry, this does not guarantee a blooming career for the writer. The opportunity to project oneself as capable and witty enough to survive in this industry is more scarce than any other industry and thus every opportunity counts. Although, talent eventually finds the way to get recognized and get rewarded, it is imperative to utilize every opportunity that the person is presented with so as to keep oneself aware of where they stand in addition to adding it to the experience.

If I were to put myself in the situation where my work has been used by another person to present under their name and get the prize, I would find this act as rather offending. The act is wrong not only considering that it is plagiarized; considering in terms of the storyline and the synopsis but also in a way that the winner has got the prize through cheating and out of fooling the public and most importantly the judges. For me, it is imperative to let the person; the winner, know that what they have done is known and they cannot get away easily doing such wrongdoings so that in future they may give a second thought if they ever decide to undertake any misleading activity again.
