Introduction

Strategic human resource management is a combination of systematic processes and procedures relating to implementing effective human resource strategies. A very important activity involved in strategic human resource management is the formulation and execution of strategies that enable to exp-lore the competencies of the human force to achieve the core objectives of the organization. A great deal of commitment is required for implementing effective human resource strategies in accordance with the organization's mission and core objectives of existence (Beardwell, 2010, pp. 84). The core objective of the human resource management of an organization is to manage the employees of the organization with the help of useful strategies to work accordingly to achieve the organization's objectives. The core purpose of this paper will be to focus on the claim found in the MacLeod Report (2009) that engagement strategies are desirable for employees and organizations. Employee Engagement According to MacLeod

It is very important to know that there is no agreed definition of employee engagement to date. According to the report of MacLeod, employee engagement is referred to an approach within an organization that ensures that the employees of the organization are motivated and connected to the values and goals of their organization. It has also been noted that employee engagement is seen as the motivation of employees for achieving the aims and objectives of the organization, along with enhancing their own well being. According to the report of MacLeod, it has been identified that employee engagement is the best strategy that could contribute towards the achievement of an organization's objectives (Macleod, 2009, pp. 52).
