Introduction

The human resource department of the company has one specific task and that is to increase the efficiency of its workers. The human resource department increases this efficiency through various ways like hiring and retaining the best, payroll setting, increasing workplace safety standards, improving co-ordination with and between workers and controlling the flow of data in and out of the company. Thus, work place surveillance is one of the tools used by the organizations to improve on the overall productivity and secrecy of the company. This workplace surveillance helps the company in keeping the company data within its boundary (Asuinura 2011). It also helps the company to control labor data lending in the hands of the labor union, which will than exploit the company. Since this labor union works for the labor welfare, thus the employees are there who want to transfer information to them.

Work place surveillance is one of the tools employed by organization, which ensures that employees are not violating the regulations and rules of the company. Surveillance provides a various benefits to the employees in the form of improved data protection, increased productivity and low misconduct levels (Greenhaus, Parasuraman & Wormley 2000). The negativities related to it can be low employee morale, lack of free movement, stopping the workers from disclosing the facts about the company to labor unions and low retention of employees. Thus, it is necessary that company should check to what level of surveillance is good and to what level its infringement of their rights.

Scenario

A Chinese company by the name of Zulhor Ltd is based in United States. Thus being based in America, it has to follow the American rules and regulations. Since the labor laws in China are not strict as in comparison to the one in United States, so the company has to be very careful in dealing with labor (Barsook & Terry 1998). The main business of the company is to produce paint and market it America. Recently it has been seen that the company is facing employee misconduct and leaking of information to labor unions. This information is vitol for the existence of the company. This is relating to the use of certain chemicals in the paint, which improve the quality of paint. This chemical is although good for paints but extremely harmful for the workers who are getting in contact with it. Thus, the company is facing pressure from labor union to disband that paint production and compensate the workers for the use of hazardous paint(Greenhaus, Parasuraman & Wormley 2000). Now the company is caught in confusion as to how the information leaked to the public. How will the company punish the culprits and what measures will it take to get company in compliance of the safety laws.
