Ethical Considerations in Research

Introduction

This paper intends to explore that how scientific research must be conducted in accordance with the ethical principles. The main focus of this paper is that how I shall follow the ethical guidelines in order to comply with the ethical codes laid down in Code of conduct. All steps are clearly justified that how I will ensure the ethical integrity of this research project. I have my own clear set of ethical principles and I shall apply them to my research work too.

Discussion

There are a number of various elements in a scientific research project that I will take care of. These elements are very crucial in a ethical code of conduct in any scientific research project. Ethical principles in research are considered universal, that is to say, they transcend geographical boundaries, cultural, economic, legal and political.

If these principles are universal, the resources required for their implementation are not, and procedures to ensure the ethical nature of the studies are not necessarily optimal either. For example, we may note the lack of a universal principle of the procedures for monitoring clinical trials.

Regardless of their limitations, these principles should guide the behavior of all individuals involved in the planning, conduct and promote research on human beings.

Plagiarism

The first element that I shall strictly follow is to avoid plagiarism. It is a very major point in scientific research code of conduct. It is not easy to define very precisely what plagiarism is because there are many ways of plagiarism that are commonly found in any academic work beyond the definition of plagiarism that can give us a dictionary. As his own work done by another person is the most elementary and transparent plagiarism, but far from the only or most frequent, there other forms of plagiarism are not always recognized as a formal plagiarism but are improper academic behaviours such as:

Copying literal sentences, paragraphs without mentioning the author.

Copying sentences or paragraphs of several authors or combine documents and more or less in the same paragraph, without citing sources. Some research shows that it is the most common type of plagiarism, to view of teachers and students.

Copy maintaining the same structure of a paragraph, but changing other words to avoid detection by electronic means.

Students can also copy from other peers and have done similar work.

Plagiarism Intentional and Unintentional Plagiarism

Something interesting to note about the different forms of plagiarism is that not all plagiarism is intentional. We can talk about two types of plagiarism:

Plagiarism intentional, a conscious deception, when present as their own what is not.

Unintentional plagiarism simply because of ignorance about what is plagiarism and on how to cite properly

This distinction, which do not always think, is very relevant and should be noted because one can think of different strategies to avoid these two types of plagiarism. Plagiarism unintentional which is technically plagiarism and therefore inappropriate and punishable and is very common and easily remedied (Graham & et al, 1994).
