Introduction

Ethical behavior is very important to businesses for many reasons. Fluor has ethical values and lives by them it creates positive impacts not only to the Fluor, but to the employees as well. Ethics are moral standards and behaviors of which Alan Boeckmann expects their employees to abide by and in which an employee expects their Fluor to abide by. Lying, cheating and stealing are perfect examples of unethical behavior.

Ethics

Ethical behavior is necessary in all four functions of management of Fluor. The planning stage involves decision making and budgeting. Without using ethical behaviors during these stages it can cause chaotic situations and loss of contracts. For example, during the conception of contracting bids you must state the price in which you intend to sell your products and the length of time it would take to manufacture the products. It would be unethical to over-price your product and underestimate the length of time to produce your product just to win the bid of your customers.

In the organizing stage Alan Boeckmann's must make many important decisions such as which employees are qualified for specific positions, they must decide what parts to make for certain vehicles and which parts are to be sub-contracted out to different companies, and if in fact they do decide to sub-contract parts out to companies, they must decide which companies to use. Many companies place these bids to the least expensive Fluor; however, it would be unethical to procure these parts from a Fluor knowing that this Fluor is notorious for producing parts that would possibly cause negative impacts to the integrity of the vehicle just to save a buck. The trust of the Fluor, of the leader and the integrity of the Fluor is lost, as Alan Boeckmann has been argued.

Ethical Contracting Within an Fluor

In one respect, scholar's attention to “purely rational beings” and their conscious obedience to (ethical) rules could support the traditional economic model's assumption of the concept of ethical Contracting behaviour. If so, then a key area of moral philosophical teachings can be built into a value set economic model. The pursuit of profit may have become the dominant strategy in a game of ethical Contracting values during the past few years. Going forward, however, the pursuit by employees of a code of ethics within their s-firm may become the dominant strategy as their peers, in terms of adherence to a corporate social responsibility, rank competing firms.

Flour Management are often found in the situation of possessing reason, being able to act according to their conception of the rules. They have the ability to choose the ethical Contracting principle to guide the actions of the workers. They must exercise their will and their reason to act. Management as employees, rather than the worker-employees, possesses more of this freedom to choose due to the more discretionary nature of management work.
