The mobile phone is among the new information technologies and telecommunications, one of the tools whose use was the most democratized since its inception in the early 90's. Technology advancements change the consumer's usage pattern and thus electronic products get outdated. If you have an old device, that you no longer need and instinct tell you that the garbage is not the solution. Indeed, mobile phones and chargers contain elements pollute the environment. SHP disposes or maintains the second hand cell phones and sell it again to the market. The company also sells a variety of related software, services, peripherals, networking solutions, and third-party digital content and applications. The SHP brand can be well recognized amongst most consumers. The company's strong brand enables it to command pricing and create significant demand for its products such as used iMac, iPod, iPhone and iPad. Strong-brand image gives the company an edge over regional and global competitors. However, rising popularity of other recycling companies may affect the attractiveness and market share of the SHP (Chea 2007).

Strengths

The SHP brand can be well recognized amongst most consumers. SHP's products enjoy a high level of brand awareness and brand recognition throughout all its markets. According to industry sources, SHP is the second largest player in the recycling mobile phone market. The company holds a market share of approximately 5% and trails other competitors, which are fighting for the maximum share. Moreover, in the global smart phone market, SHP's iOS platform is the third largest player, with a market share of approximately 18.5%. Strong-brand image gives the company an edge over regional and global competitors (Slade 2006).

Weaknesses

The company involved in legal complaints relating to patent infringement. SHP is engaged in a business which is sensitive to the environment, so ethical issues may arise. One bad image can ruin the whole image of the business so SHP needs to be careful. The size of increasingly miniaturized mobile phone can almost lead to believe that it has no impact on the environment, or if not very little. Beyond the issue of resource and energy needed to manufacture mobile phones and accessories, there is the question of managing the end of life of these devices, which if n is not appropriate, can lead to serious environmental hazards and health (Prashant 2008).

This business market segment forecast to record strong growth in coming years. SHP is in a position to increase its share in the growing phone and tablet market.
