Ethical Framework in IT

There are several dilemmas that IT workers face day in and day out, on their job. IT workers have the privilege of accessing anything they want, whether personal or professional, which they can manipulate easily for their benefit. They can monitor and control everything that is happening within the company. They can also be useful in providing necessary information about other workers' non compliance to the company's information sharing policies. However, there is little guidance with IT professionals to act in an ethical way, since the ethical framework related to IT is not very strong. Hence it is very crucial that the corporate world make the right policies to eliminate the chances of any unethical situation taking place within the organization, because corporate policies start where the law ends, and if an organization does not make the correct ethical policies, it is in no position to hold its employee responsible for any unethical behavior. To formulate the these policies, companies use past information or experiences where they had trouble, or look into any problems that they may encounter in the future. Therefore, in order to have a sound system of IT, with highly ethical IT workers, the organizations should create ethical policies, which are clearly stated instead of going around in circles (Herbert, T, 2007).
