Introduction

Sport is a unique environment and it can be commonly claimed by educators, sport organizers and coaches. It is true as in sports participant learn ethical values so that sport can become more interesting and the real essence of sports can be felt. Sports competitions have life altering effects on life of many people. The life altering effects are more effective if ethics is kept in mind and sport is played keeping in mind not only the rules but also ethical values. We can see players abusing the opponents, rules, official and even teammates at all sports level in almost all the countries. It is claimed that special ethical environment is provided in sports, but this claim cannot be justified when the abuses are seen. We can have the evidence from actual sports about the occurrences which clearly shows that still sports lack ethical domain and it is an alarming situation. Many sportsmen are found disregarding the ethical values (Lumpkin, et.al, 2012).

It cannot be said that after a person joins the sports environment he become ethical, no one can guarantee this statement. If ethical abuse is not observed, definitely no strategies and training will be developed to promote ethics in sports. We need to focus more on ethics in sports so that the real benefits of sports can be gain. This focus on training will also help to create competition in sports. Dictionary defines ethics a concern regarding right or wrong, good or bad behavior. Another thing which dictionary defines is that it is an obligation, ought to be value or right. These properties can be ethical or non ethical. There can be things which are scientifically bad but it can be good in mathematics. Therefore ethical values and domain needed to be defined. The terms good, bad, right and wrong are used to describe actions which are prudential. Therefore what is good and what is wrong should be defined so that it can help to measure the value of ethics. There is another thing which is called ethical relativism. In ethical relativism people relates oneself with what another person is doing no matter he is right or wrong. This disturbs the real meaning of ethics (Arnold, 1997).

Discussion

Sport is very important for the society as it promotes health, competition and it is one of the means of entertainment. If ethics is lacking in sports than these values cannot be achieved which means that the real reason of sports competitions will be in vain. Unethical gestures, actions and behavior de-motivate the sports person and the people who are interested in that particular type of sports. If also discourages participation in sports activities. Ethics is also important to maintain harmony and for the development of sports. There are different example of un-ethical actions such as bullying the players, gambling, uses of drugs, abusing the team mates, opponents, rules and the organizers (Taylor & Francis, 2008).
