Introduction

The London Olympics of 2012, which is officially known as Games XXX Olympiad is an enormous and a historic event that needs immense planning for any unexpected event and overall compliance to the planned strategy. Moreover, the management committee must ensure effective event contracts budget management.

Quality Assurance Contingency Planning

Contingency planning is a tool to manage the situation that can arise and can cause serious damages to the existing plan. In any case, the contingency plan is always questioned when a threat materializes (Allen, 2008). If the threat was foreseen and the countermeasures were effective, only minor corrected aspects of the plan is needed to improve efficiency. If the threat was foreseen, but countermeasures were ineffective, we must analyze the cause of the failure and propose improved countermeasures.

There are myriad instances that can cause unexpected results during the Olympic sports event. Any natural disaster or man created disaster can create a worse image of the country if it fails to have an effective contingency plan. The contingency plan consists of three sub-plans. Each plan determines the necessary countermeasures in each moment of time compared to the materialization of threats.

The backup plan: It includes preventive countermeasures before a threat materializes. Its purpose is to avoid the realization. For instance, any terrorist activity occurs during the event then the management must be fully equipped to deliver a positive result to eradicate the worse scenario that can happen without planning.

The emergency plan: It provides the necessary countermeasures for the materialization of a threat. Its purpose is to mitigate the adverse impact of the threat.

The recovery plan: It includes the necessary measures and controlled after the threat materialized. Its purpose is to restore the state of things as they were before the materialization of the threat.

Moreover, the contingency plan should not be limited to these organizational measures. We should also state clearly:
