Exercise, Nutrition and Obesity

1. Who are the stakeholders? How does the issue impact each, and what are the desired outcomes for each stakeholder group?

The government acts as the most important stakeholder to promote healthy lifestyles and prevent weight-related problems. The U.S. department of Health and Human service works under different work or initiatives (Regional forums, forum generations and public consultation) that have been implemented since 2004 to serve the cause (Koplan, p. 56). Stakeholders within government aim to increase prevention and improve public health in food and physical activity.

For children, the schools act as a primary stakeholder for nutrition management. The nutrition education takes place in class at school where children first learn their eating habits. Teachers play a key role in teaching students the rules of good eating habits and make them aware of the effects of diet on health (Brownell and Horgen, p.34). School curricula include regular meals, the composition of menus (from kindergarten to CE1) and actions beneficial or harmful behaviors (CE2 to CM2).
