Reflecting on his time in the Hitler Youth, Alfons Heck composes, “I not ever one time throughout the Hitler years considered of myself as any thing but a decent, honorable young German, blessed with a glorious future” (Heck, 206). This blatant honesty permeates A Child of Hitler, and it is his enthusiasm to candidly express the inward ideas of a progeny seduced by the Hitler Youth, as alarming and democratically incorrect as those ideas may be, that groups this publication exception from most publications on the subject. The world should not ever exhaust of producing changes for what occurred throughout World War II, and there could not ever be sufficient in writing about the atrocities endured at the hands of the Nazis, but the world desires to realise Alfons Heck's know-how of Nazi Germany as well. “Tragically,” composes Heck, “now we are the other part of the Holocaust, the lifetime burdened with the enormity of Auschwitz.
