Explicit and tactic Knowledge differences

Explicit knowledge can be recorded in records, documents and patents and other intellectual artifacts. It can be manipulated into the digital domain and is representational. It helps in converting data to information and knowledge which helps in describing the continuum of explicit knowledge. The business and tools of Km helps to enhance the business value.

Tactic knowledge comprises of experience, wisdom and best practices which live within the individual and team. Since, this knowledge is available within minds, therefore, it cannot be reduced to the digital domain. Furthermore, it cannot be also manipulated directly as a material asset. On the other hand, it can be expressed in social realms as teamwork (communication, coordination and collaboration) or individual responsibility (productivity, innovation and initiative) (Sveiby, Lloyd, 2007).

The difference between tacit and explicit knowledge provides the basis of understanding the role of computer system as well as individual system. They play an important role in understanding the roles of human system and computer system. These are important concepts in KM process. The concept of explicit and tactic knowledge provides a means of deeply rooted human processes which comprises of the private world of an individual and cannot be reduced to software automation information processing. The human process deals with the public domain of language, communication, culture, representation which denotes the knowledge of artifacts. The explicit and tactic knowledge are valuable for an enterprise. Knowledge management emphasis is in accumulation both of them. However, explicit knowledge is rendered into digital artifacts, which can be, stored, retrieved and communicated. This shows that, in explicit knowledge, KM is concerned with the software automation.

Internalization occurs by the conversion of explicit knowledge to tacit knowledge, and this is related to the "learning by doing". Transmitting the new explicit knowledge and internalize those who receive it to extend, integrate and restructure on their tacit knowledge (Scarbrough, Swan, 2001). It is linked to action learning and knowledge becomes part of the individual, and he becomes an asset to the organization.

In the work environment, explicit knowledge is applied to a high extent because they should know what is done to realize it, but others perform it by simple intuition but very few studies carried out believe that communication and socialization received by explicit teach knowledge, tacit knowledge utilizes but is rarely used in the work. On the other hand, tactic knowledge can be addressed by software while considering the following ways:

Catalyzing and supporting the mutual process which are used in exchanging knowledge

It also helps in converting the explicit knowledge into tactic knowledge

Tactic knowledge corresponds to immense value within the organization. It is also experienced when few people leave the organization with the knowledge and skills they have accumulated and can put the whole organization at a risk.
